There are several types of Gasteria. They have distinct triangular upright leaves and characteristic leaf patterns. Also known as ‘ox tongue’ due to the rough texture on the leaves. Gasteria plants are very hardy making them ideal for consumers to care for.

A widely known species of succulent is Aloe Vera, used for both decorative and pharmaceutical use. The leaves are thick and fleshy, green to grey-green, with some varieties showing white flecks on their upper and lower stem surfaces.

Dyckia

There are several types of Dyckia plants. This striking plant has stiff and spiny leaves and grows well in rocky and/or sunny areas. They have a tendency to grow in a clumping habit and can produce small colorful flowers which grow on their stalk.

Description

The following draping succulents grow well in bright light, preferably not direct sun when it is hot. Their cascading leaves display nicely in hanging baskets or tall planters. Keep well-drained, but water regularly. These plants store water in their leaves, they’ll begin to shrivel if their water storage is low or you may find them to be soft and squishy if given too much water. 

String of Bananas

Senecio Radicans are native to South Africa where they grow on the ground. The green cascading leaves, shaped like mini bananas, gives this plant their common name, String of Bananas. Popularly used in hanging baskets or in tall planters. Needs plenty of sunlight, yet protect from intense heat.
