FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Over the years, we have encountered many questions from our customers regarding their Succulent Creations.  We've included some of the most popular ones below in the hopes it will help you care for your special product!

I water my plant, why is it rotting?

This is the most common problem people run into, and the answer is quite simple; you are over-watering the plant.  We often want to water succulents as much as we water other plants, but they do not need that much attention.  Succulents reserve water in their leaves, so they do not soak up as much water as other plants do.  If your plant is rotting, it's because the plant does not need that excess water and it is sitting in soil that is too wet.

My pet ate some of my plant, is it safe for animals?

We recommend you keep all succulent plants away from pets and children.  Although many are not poisonous, they can be toxic and may make your animal or child sick if ingested.  Always use caution with the placement of your products.
*Consult a healthcare professional if your pet or child ingests these plants and becomes sick.

How much sun does my plant need?

Most succulent varieties require a few hours of light each day, and natural light is the best option.  They will do just fine for an extended period of time with artificial light, but after a while they may loose vibrant colors and stretch as they look for the nutrients from the natural light.  If this is the case, set your plant outside for a few days (as long as the temperatures allow) and let it recoup before bringing it back inside.

If the plant is outside, it will do just fine in about any area, as long as it receives sun.  Placing the item in all-day, direct sun may not be the best option for some varieties as these plants can become sun burned.

My plants outgrew the container, can I transplant them?

Absolutely! You can transplant your succulents at any time. Special soil or fertilizer is not needed to do so.  Simply ensure your new container has proper drainage and room for your plants to grow, remove your items from the original container, plant in the new one, and water thoroughly.

My plant is growing a large stem, can I trim it?

Many varieties produce stems (or runners) that have blooms.  If you do not like the look of these stems, or once they die, you can cut them off.  Most all succulent varieties can be trimmed if you would like to control their growth, or if you would like to transplant them.
