Maranta leuconeura

Maranta is the type-genus of Marantaceae, and is named in honor of Bartolomeo Maranta, an Italian physician and botanist of the 16th century who organized his knowledge of botanical pharmacology by nomenclature, species identification and medicinal properties.

Scientific Name: Maranta leuconeura
Common Names: Maranta Green, Rabbit’s Foot, Prayer Plant
Origin : Central America, South America, West Indies
Light: Ideally bright indirect light, and very tolerant of lower light (will just grow more slowly).
Water: Water every 1-2 weeks, allowing soil to dry out between waterings. Soil should be kept moist, but not soggy.
Humidity:  Place near a humidifier or mist frequently (2 - 3x per week).
Temperature: Keep the temperature around 65 to 85 degrees, Avoiding cold drafts.
Soil: Use well draining soil mix.
Fertilizer: Add fertilizer to the soil once a month from spring to summer, following the package instructions for dilution and administration. Do not provide nutrients in the fall and winter.
Pests: Spider mites, mealy bugs, aphids​.
Toxicity: Non-toxic to animals.
